Stocks closed broadly higher on Wall Street on Thursday as bond yields rose from their recent lows, easing concerns about a troubling drop in long-term yields over the past week.

That lifted banking stocks - with Citigroup climbing 2 percent - helping to drag up the broader index.

Technology and industrial stocks also rose, offsetting losses in communications companies.

The S&P 500 rose 0.4 percent to 2,815.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.4 percent to 25,717. The Nasdaq added 0.3 percent to 7,669. (AP)
