Government figures released on Thursday showed that property prices have continued rising to record levels.

The Rating and Valuation Department's price index for private flats last month went up to 375.9 – a 1.8 percent increase from the month before and up 13.9 percent compared to the year before.

This marked the 18th consecutive month of record prices in the private property sector, as prices rose for the 25th consecutive month.

Private housing prices had already gone up by 6.6 percent for the first four months of the year.

The rental index for the month also edged up to 190.3 – a month-on-month rise of 0.4 percent.
