Hong Kong home prices have fallen for a third consecutive month, with the drop most notable for small and medium-sized flats.

Government figures show that private flat prices in February slid 2.1 percent month-on-month. But they were still one percent higher than they were a year ago.

Flats smaller than around 1,075 square feet sold for almost 2.2 percent less last month compared to January, while the price of larger flats rose 0.2 percent.

The price of luxury flats rose 2.4 percent, but there were fewer than 20 transactions.

Rents snapped a five-month downward trend, with a month-on-month increase of half a percent last month.
