Hong Kong stocks rallied on Thursday as traders tracked a Wall Street rally and healthy US data.

The Hang Seng Index jumped 2 percent, or 406 points, to 20,174.

Tech plays put on good gains, with Alibaba jumping 5.1 percent ahead of the release of its earnings report and Tencent up 3.1 percent.

The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.8 percent to 3,189.04, while the Shenzhen Composite Index climbed nearly 0.9 percent to 2,135. (Additional reporting by AFP)
