Hong Kong stocks plunged on Monday as technology firms were hit by news that China's tech hub Shenzhen was put into lockdown, compounding concerns over the sector on the mainland.

The Hang Seng Index dived 5 percent, or 1,022 points, to 19,531 -- dropping below 20,000 for the first time since mid-2016. 

The Shanghai Composite Index sank 2.6 percent, or 86 points, to 3,223, while the Shenzhen Composite Index dived 2.9 percent, or 63 points, to 2,109. (AFP)
