I&T Chief Visits Lok Ma Chau Loop

Secretary for Innovation & Technology Alfred Sit today visited the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Park Limited (HSITPL) and inspected the Lok Ma Chau Loop site.

He learnt more about the works progress of the loop since funding approval was obtained from the Legislative Council Finance Committee early this year.

The committee approved two public works programmes in January for site formation, provision of infrastructural facilities, as well as the building of a fire station and ambulance depot in the loop.

Funding was also approved in February for the start of the tech park's Batch 1 development.

During his visit to the HSITPL, Mr Sit received a briefing on the park's overall planning and the Batch 1 development. Projects, including the design of the first four buildings, are being carried out at full steam and works are expected to be completed in phases from end-2024 onwards.

Mr Sit then inspected the loop's construction site, where he was briefed on the development progress.

He said he was glad to see the first batch of land parcels has just been handed over to the HSITPL for the start of construction.

The company will adopt innovative, green and smart construction methods in the Batch 1 development to substantially reduce the on-site construction processes and manpower, Mr Sit added.
