The MTR Corporation on Sunday opened Sydney's first privately-operated railway line.
The 36 km Metro North West Line runs between the Sydney suburbs of Rouse Hill and Chatswood.
As was the case with Hong Kong's South Island Line, it is also the first-time that driver-less trains have been used. It is also running on similar technology.
A journey takes just over half an hour.
It's the MTR's second foray into a major Australian city coming after Melbourne Metro.
The MTR has been expanding outside Hong Kong in recent years. It operates lines in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou as well as in the UK and Sweden
