Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) on Tuesday said the markets watchdog has approved the appointment of prominent private banker Nicolas Aguzin as its new chief executive.
Aguzin, who’s from Argentina but is a permanent resident of Hong Kong, will be first non-Chinese head of the market operator once he takes up the job for a three-year term starting May 24.
He is currently CEO of JP Morgan’s International Private Bank and has extensive experience in the Asia Pacific region, including China.
HKEX said the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has given the required written approval for his appointment.
A spokesman for the bourse said it welcomes the development and looks forward to Aguzin joining the management team in May.
