QR Code Checks Conducted
Law enforcement agencies have initiated prosecution procedures against 18 catering business operators found to have incorrectly displayed the LeaveHomeSafe venue QR code during inspections conducted from December 2, 2020 to January 4.
Secretary for Innovation & Technology Alfred Sit told lawmakers today that 70 verbal warnings have been issued to catering businesses and 24 were given to scheduled premises in relation to the requirements on the display of the QR code during the period.
He said catering businesses and other scheduled premises which are still open for business must display the venue QR code at a conspicuous place for people to scan with the LeaveHomeSafe mobile app.
Law enforcement agencies have been deploying additional staff to step up inspections in all districts across the city to ensure strict compliance with the directions and requirements under the Prevention & Control of Disease (Requirements & Directions) (Business & Premises) Regulation, including the proper display of the venue QR code.
Catering business operators and scheduled premises managers who contravene the statutory requirements are liable to a $50,000 fine and imprisonment for six months.
More than 67,000 venues, including 54,000 private ones, have joined the scheme to display the LeaveHomeSafe venue QR code.
