Quarantine Exemption Case Explained
The Commerce & Economic Development Bureau today said no breach of the exemption conditions by the overseas film personnel exempted from quarantine has been identified so far.
The bureau made the remarks in response to media enquiries on the quarantine exemption of the overseas film personnel undertaking location filming in Hong Kong.
It explained that pursuant to the Compulsory Quarantine of Persons Arriving at Hong Kong from Foreign Places Regulation (Cap 599E), the case has been granted permission to travel to Hong Kong with a quarantine exemption for the purpose of performing designated professional work which is conducive to maintaining the necessary operation and development of Hong Kong's economy.
Under the relevant quarantine exemption mechanism, government bureaus or departments may submit cases for the Chief Secretary's consideration, taking into account the health authorities' advice and the public health situation at the time.
The bureau noted that personnel granted such an exemption must comply with designated disease prevention measures and other conditions to minimise any transmission risk and contact with the public.
These measures and conditions include, but are not limited to vaccinations prior to arrival, a designated place of stay, COVID-19 testing and securing negative results on arrival and at intervals in line with the prevailing requirement of the Department of Health, pre-determined work-related itineraries, point-to-point transportation and prohibition of using public transport.
The bureau said that it has carried out and will conduct checks, verification and monitoring to ensure the exempted personnel's compliance, adding that it is not in a position to disclose details of each approved case.
