R&D Funding Scheme Opens

The Innovation & Technology Commission is inviting applications for the 2021 Guangdong-Hong Kong Technology Cooperation Funding Scheme until November 19.

There are three project categories under the scheme.

The first category covers projects funded by the Innovation & Technology Fund, while the second involves those funded by relevant Mainland authorities.

The third category refers to projects jointly funded by the governments of Guangdong and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or the governments of Shenzhen and the Hong Kong SAR.

The commission noted that there are 35 specific themes or topics in different technology areas under the third category this year.

Such areas align with the latest technology trends and industry needs of the two places and will encourage more diversified and quality research and development (R&D) projects for promoting economic development in the Greater Pearl River Delta region, it added.

Launched in 2004, the scheme provides funding for applied R&D projects in Guangdong and Hong Kong. Shenzhen joined the scheme in 2005.
