Wall Street stocks closed higher on Friday after a mixed US jobs report eased fears over inflation, while Apple shares rocketed after billionaire investor Warren Buffett increased his stake in the company.
The US economy added 164,000 jobs in April, which was below expectations. But the unemployment rate fell to 3.9 percent, the lowest since December 2000.
Apple jumped 3.9 percent, and retailers, banks and most other groups of stocks also gained.
The S&P 500 index rose 1.3 percent to 2,663.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 1.4 percent to 24,262. The Nasdaq composite climbed 1.7 percent to 7,209. (AP, AFP)
